Event Details

Completed in 1929, Temple Emanu-El is one of the largest synagogues in the world with a sanctuary almost 150 feet long and over 100 feet high. It was designed and built by the era’s leading craftspeople and has a style that blends Moorish and Romanesque design. Hildreth Meière was commissioned to design mosaics for the eight-story-high arch of the main sanctuary and the ark on the Eastern wall.

Temple Administrator Mark Heutlinger and Senior Curator Elka Deitsch, of the Herbert & Eileen Bernard Museum at Temple Emanu-El, will lead a tour of the Main Sanctuary and discuss the mosaics of Hildreth Meière.
Co-sponsered by MOBIA and Temple Emanu-El.

Enter at One East 65th Street.
FREE. Registration required. Call MOBIA at 212.408.1251.
